As part of our Transportation Unit, our school has a day of activities and different forms of transportation visit our school. This was a great way to wrap up our unit. Luckily, the rain was gone just in time!
Caleb's mom decided to be brave today. She went up in the bucket truck and over the top of the school! The kids thought she was so cool!!
We were able to crawl inside the balloon part of a hot air balloon! The balloon was actually lying on its side and the owner blew it half-way up so we could go inside and sit to listen to his expertise. His name is Jeff Maddox from Huntsville. He has been visiting our school for the past 5 years. He told us his 15 year old daughter has her own hot air balloon!
We made a tissue paper covered hot air balloon too!

As we studied MAP Skills this week, I decided to add a little fun! I divided the children up into 5 teams and created a Treasure Hunt. Each team had a map of the playground but each had a different route to take in order to find their treasure. They were so excited and loved watching each other search for their treasures.
We had another exciting day this week! With Valentines Day, Jack Hartmann's Concert, and Career Day, we have been busy, busy, busy! It was very obvious the children were tired today. Many were a tad irritable and fussing like siblings. (ha!ha!) Hopefully, they were better Friday afternoon because we rested for an hour after lunch. Over half of the class went to sleep!! We hardly ever nap but today was much needed. We had a couple who were snoring so loud that the ones who were awake had to move!! Even though these special days are so much fun, I am looking forward to a normal school schedule next week.
Just in case your little ones come home and tell you they saw a real BAD GUY at school today, I want to share a video with you. The local police dept. came out and showed the boys and girls what Police Dogs really do to help them. The "Bad Guy" happened to be the officer's Sargent dressed up like a convict. He took off the orange uniform after the stunt was over to show the students his police uniform underneath.
We had a BLAST at the concert! The boys and girls were so excited to see a Super Star!! Jack is so much fun and he really loves the children. He came back to our school after the concert and visited each classroom for a picture.
